How to choose the correct controller
In a model name such as 100/30, the first number is the controller's maximum PV open-circuit voltage and the second is its maximum battery charge current. Your solar array's cold-weather open-circuit voltage must stay below the controller's PV-voltage rating. The charge-current rating must also suit the solar array, battery bank and system voltage. Check the relevant Victron datasheet or use a qualified installer when sizing a system.
BlueSolar or SmartSolar?
Choose BlueSolar when you want dependable Victron MPPT charging without built-in Bluetooth. Choose Victron SmartSolar if phone-based monitoring through built-in Bluetooth is important. Some BlueSolar models can communicate with compatible Victron accessories; capability varies by model.
