Dicor 551LSW non-levelling caravan roof sealant
Dicor 551LSW is a white, non-sag lap sealant for vertical caravan and motorhome roof joints. It is designed to hold its bead rather than flow flat, making it the practical choice for roof edges, side seams, termination rails and taller rooftop accessory flanges. For caravan owners in Auckland and across New Zealand, it provides a purpose-made alternative to general household silicone for compatible RV roofing systems.
The HAPS-free formula creates a flexible secondary seal and is UV-stabilised to resist deterioration and discolouration. It is compatible with EPDM, TPO and PVC roof membranes and adheres to aluminium, mortar, wood, vinyl, galvanised metal, fibreglass and concrete.
Choose non-levelling 551 or self-levelling 501?
| Application | Recommended sealant |
|---|---|
| Vertical seams, roof edges, termination rails and taller accessory flanges | Dicor 551LSW non-levelling, non-sag sealant |
| Horizontal roof areas, screw heads and low-profile vent flanges | Dicor 501 self-levelling roof sealant |
Use 551LSW where the sealant must stay where it is applied. Use self-levelling 501 only where the product can safely flow across a horizontal surface. Always confirm the roof manufacturer’s requirements before starting a repair.

Frequently asked questions
Is Dicor 551LSW suitable for a flat caravan roof?
It is intended for vertical or non-sag applications. For horizontal roof penetrations and screw heads, use the compatible Dicor 501 self-levelling sealant unless the roof manufacturer specifies otherwise.
Is Dicor 551 the same as ordinary silicone?
No. It is a specialist RV lap sealant formulated for compatible caravan and motorhome roofing materials. Do not assume household silicone is interchangeable.
Can I apply it over old sealant?
Inspect the existing bead first. Remove loose, contaminated or failed material, clean the area and confirm compatibility before applying new sealant. If the existing product or roof membrane is unknown, seek advice before proceeding.
How many tubes do I need?
Coverage depends on bead width, joint depth and the number of seams. Measure the repair area and allow extra for preparation, overlaps and future maintenance. The multi-packs suit workshops and larger resealing projects.
