Automatic four-motor control for twin-axle caravans. The Powrtouch Evolution AWD uses four drive motors—one for each caravan wheel—and electrically engages the rollers from the handset. It is designed for owners who want controlled low-speed manoeuvring without manually winding the rollers onto the tyres.

Choose this model if

  • Your caravan is twin axle and you want all four wheels driven.
  • You prefer automatic roller engagement from the remote handset.
  • Your loaded caravan and site conditions are within the manufacturer's limits.

This is the four-motor automatic model. Powrtouch two-motor and manual-engagement movers are different products with different hardware, operation and pricing.

Key specifications

  • Configuration: twin-axle AWD, four motors
  • Roller engagement: automatic
  • Supply: 12V DC
  • Recommended power source: 12V 100Ah battery
  • Average current: 40A
  • Maximum current: 160A
  • Maximum speed: 280mm per second
  • Approximate system weight: 70kg
  • Manufacturer rating: up to 2800kg on a 25% incline

Capacity figures are manufacturer test ratings, not a promise of performance on every surface. Actual performance depends on loaded weight, gradient, tyre condition, battery health, installation geometry and ground conditions.

Fitment checks before ordering

A caravan mover is not a universal-fit accessory. Before purchase, confirm the chassis profile and depth, available space around both axles, tyres, brakes, suspension, tanks, plumbing and cables, plus the remaining ground clearance. Common installations use approximately 150mm or 200mm chassis depths; some chassis require model-specific mounting plates.

For the AWD layout, mover units are normally installed in front of the front axle and behind the rear axle. Ask us to check your caravan make, model, year, loaded weight and underside photos if fitment is uncertain.

Battery and installation

The mover is a high-current 12V system and should be installed and commissioned by a competent caravan technician. Battery condition and cable sizing matter: a battery labelled 100Ah may still perform poorly if aged, discharged or unsuitable for high-current use.

  • Do not operate the mover while the caravan is connected to a 240V mains supply.
  • Install control equipment, isolation and protection in suitable ventilated locations—not in gas or battery compartments unless specifically approved for that location.
  • Fully disengage the rollers and complete normal hitching and safety checks before towing.

Warranty guidance

Powrtouch states a five-year guarantee for the Evolution range. Contact Select Caravans before purchase if you need confirmation of New Zealand warranty registration, installation conditions or the local claim process.

Frequently asked questions

What does automatic engagement mean?

The handset electrically moves the drive rollers onto and away from the tyres. Steering and movement are also controlled from the handset.

Why choose four motors instead of two?

Four motors drive all four wheels on a twin-axle caravan. This can provide more positive control than a two-motor system, particularly when turning, but it adds hardware, electrical demand and weight.

Will it fit every twin-axle caravan?

No. Chassis dimensions, axle spacing and underfloor equipment must be checked before ordering. Special mounting plates may be required.

Is a battery included?

A suitable 12V battery is an installation requirement; do not assume it is included. Confirm the package contents and any mounting hardware needed for your caravan before ordering.
