Seal horizontal caravan and motorhome roof joints with Dicor 501 self-levelling RV roof sealant. The flexible, HAPS-free formula forms a secure secondary seal around roof edges, air vents, vent pipes, air conditioners, skylights and exposed screw heads.

Choose 501LSW White or 501LSB Black in a 10.3 oz (approximately 305 mL) cartridge. White is available as a single tube, 12 pack or 25 pack; black is available as a single tube. Order online for delivery across New Zealand or arrange collection from Albany, Auckland.

Compatible RV roof materials

Dicor lists this self-levelling lap sealant as compatible with EPDM, TPO and PVC roof membranes. It adheres to aluminium, mortar, wood, vinyl, galvanised metal, fibreglass and concrete when the surface is properly prepared.

  • UV-stabilised to resist deterioration and discolouration
  • Remains flexible after curing
  • Will not stain or discolour compatible roofing materials
  • Applies with a standard caulking gun
  • Designed for horizontal surfaces where the bead can flow and settle

Self-levelling or non-levelling sealant?

Use Dicor 501 on horizontal roof surfaces. Its flowing consistency helps the bead settle around fasteners and roof penetrations. It is not the right choice for vertical seams where the sealant must stay in place.

For vertical joints, taller accessories and termination rails, choose Dicor 551 non-levelling RV roof sealant. If you are unsure which product your caravan roof requires, check the roof manufacturer's instructions before applying any sealant.

How to apply Dicor 501

  1. Inspect the roof and confirm the membrane and existing sealant are compatible.
  2. Remove dirt, loose paint, rust, oil, grease and failed material without damaging the roof membrane.
  3. Allow the surface to dry fully.
  4. Place the cartridge in a standard caulking gun and apply a continuous bead over the joint, screw head or roof penetration.
  5. In cold weather, keep the unopened cartridge at room temperature before use. Do not use an open flame or extreme heat.

Coverage varies with bead width, joint shape and the size of the repair, so inspect the work before starting and allow enough product to complete each seal continuously.

Dicor 501 questions

Is Dicor 501 the same as caravan silicone?

No. Dicor 501 is a specialist self-levelling RV roof lap sealant rather than a general-purpose household silicone. Dicor's EPDM roof guidance specifically calls for compatible lap sealant around roof fasteners and penetrations.

Can I use it on a vertical seam?

No. Dicor 501 is made for horizontal surfaces. Use a compatible non-levelling or non-sag sealant, such as Dicor 551, where the bead must remain on a vertical surface.

Can it be applied over existing sealant?

Only when the existing seal is compatible, sound and prepared in line with the roof manufacturer's instructions. Remove loose or failed material, clean the area and allow it to dry. Do not cover damage that needs proper roof repair.

How many tubes will I need?

That depends on the bead size, number of roof penetrations and the condition of the existing seals. There is no reliable universal coverage figure, so measure the work and allow extra product rather than stopping part-way through a continuous seal.

What is included?

You will receive the selected quantity of Dicor 501 cartridges in the chosen colour. A caulking gun, cleaning products, tools and other roof-repair materials are not included.

Safety and storage

Dicor 501 contains flammable solvents. Keep it away from heat, sparks and flame, use it with adequate ventilation and avoid breathing vapour. Wear suitable eye and skin protection. Keep the container closed when not in use and follow the product label and current safety data sheet for first aid, storage and disposal instructions.
