MaxxFan Plus 12V caravan roof vent fan
The MaxxFan Plus is a thermostatic 12V roof vent fan for caravans, motorhomes and RVs. Its 10-speed motor can draw fresh air in, exhaust hot or stale air, or circulate cabin air with the lid closed. Choose the manual-lift model for simple ceiling controls, or the power-lift model for remote operation and automatic rain-sensor closing.
Both options fit the common 356 × 356 mm caravan roof opening and provide more than 900 CFM of airflow. For Auckland caravan upgrades and RV ventilation projects throughout New Zealand, this is a practical way to improve airflow without relying on an air conditioner for every temperature change.

The manual model gives you the same core 10-speed ventilation performance with fewer powered lid components. Choose the power-lift version when remote control and rain-triggered closing are useful, particularly when the fan is mounted above a bed or in a high ceiling.
Ventilation modes
- Exhaust: helps remove warm, humid or stale cabin air.
- Intake: draws outside air into the caravan when conditions suit.
- Ceiling fan mode: circulates air inside the RV while the lid is closed.
- Thermostatic operation: helps regulate fan operation around the selected temperature.
The removable flyscreen uses twist-release L-clamps for easier cleaning. Twin lifting arms help steady the open lid, and the ceiling-mounted controls remain accessible without the remote.
Fitment checks before ordering
- Measure the roof cut-out. The required opening is 356 × 356 mm, commonly described as 14 × 14 inches.
- Measure the finished roof thickness. The supported range is 50 to 110 mm.
- Confirm clear roof space for the external body, which measures 461 × 420 mm.
- Allow for the open height of 311 mm and check nearby solar panels, air conditioners, aerials and other roof fittings.
- Confirm a nominal 12V DC supply and a circuit capable of supplying at least 5A.
- Plan a weatherproof installation using the sealant, wiring protection and fixing method appropriate for your roof construction.
Roof openings and electrical work can affect waterproofing and safety. If you are not confident with roof preparation, 12V wiring or sealing, arrange installation by a suitably experienced RV technician.

What to know about rain
The power-lift model has a rain sensor that closes the lid when rain is detected. The manual-lift model does not have a rain sensor. MaxxFan Plus is different from MaxxFan Deluxe models with an integrated rain dome, so do not assume the lid can remain open during wet weather.
Frequently asked questions
Will it replace a standard caravan roof vent?
It is designed for a 356 × 356 mm opening, but you must also confirm roof thickness, external clearance, wiring and the condition of the existing opening. A nominally matching opening does not guarantee a complete drop-in installation.
Can the fan run with the lid closed?
Yes. Ceiling fan mode circulates air inside the caravan with the lid closed. Intake and exhaust ventilation require suitable outside airflow.
Does the manual model still have a thermostat?
Yes. Both 650-03010 and 650-03012 include thermostat-controlled operation. The differences are the powered lid, rain sensor and remote control.
Is the remote included with both models?
No. The remote is supplied with the power-lift 650-03012 model only.
Is installation included?
No installation service is included in the product price. Contact Select Caravans if you would like to discuss fitment at our Auckland workshop or need help checking compatibility.
