Build a dependable 230V power system for your caravan, motorhome, boat or off-grid property with the Victron MultiPlus-II inverter charger. This all-in-one unit converts battery power to clean AC power, charges the battery when shore, generator or grid power is available, and transfers essential loads automatically if the AC supply fails.

Choose from seven genuine Victron Energy models for 12V, 24V and 48V battery banks, with inverter ratings from 3000VA to 15000VA. Select Caravans supplies New Zealand customers nationwide, with collection available in Albany, Auckland.

Why choose a Victron MultiPlus-II?

  • Inverter and adaptive battery charger: combines two major power-system functions in one unit.
  • PowerAssist: adds battery power when a limited shore, generator or grid connection cannot meet a short peak load.
  • PowerControl: reduces charging demand to help prevent overloading the available AC supply.
  • Fast UPS transfer: the inverter takes over in less than 20 milliseconds when the incoming AC supply fails, helping compatible electronics continue operating without disruption.
  • Two AC outputs: the main output supports backed-up loads; the second output is intended for loads that should run only while AC input is available.
  • ESS ready: suitable for compatible Victron Energy Storage System designs, including grid-connected and off-grid solar applications.
  • Expandable: compatible models can be configured for parallel or three-phase operation by a qualified system designer.
  • Remote monitoring ready: add a compatible GX device, such as a Cerbo GX, for local control and internet monitoring through the Victron VRM portal.

Choose the right MultiPlus-II model

Match the inverter charger to the nominal voltage of your battery bank first, then size the VA rating for the loads you need to run. VA is an inverter rating, not a guarantee that every appliance with the same wattage will start. Motors, pumps, air conditioners and other high-surge loads need a proper load and battery-bank assessment.

Battery system Inverter rating Victron SKU Typical system scale
12V 3000VA PMP122305010 Higher-demand caravan, motorhome or marine systems
12V 5000VA PMP122505012 Large 12V systems with a suitably sized battery bank
24V 3000VA PMP242305010 Caravan, motorhome, marine and compact off-grid systems
24V 5000VA PMP242505010 Larger mobile, marine or off-grid systems
48V 8000VA PMP482805000 High-demand off-grid and energy-storage systems
48V 10000VA PMP483105000 Large residential, commercial or marine systems
48V 15000VA PMP483150000 Very high-demand professionally engineered systems

Good applications in New Zealand

  • Caravan and motorhome power systems that combine batteries, solar, shore power and a generator.
  • Marine electrical systems requiring an inverter charger and controlled shore or generator input.
  • Off-grid solar systems for cabins, workshops, homes or commercial sites.
  • Compatible ESS installations that manage grid, battery and solar energy together.
  • Backup power for selected critical loads where system design and regulatory requirements are satisfied.

Important installation notes

The MultiPlus-II is a core system component, not a plug-in appliance. Cable size, fusing, isolation, earthing, battery chemistry, battery discharge capability, ventilation and upstream protection must all be designed for the selected model. New Zealand 230V AC work must be completed and certified where required by an appropriately qualified electrical professional.

For lithium systems, confirm battery-management-system compatibility and the continuous and peak discharge current available from the battery bank. GX monitoring, battery monitors, current sensors, communications cables and other system components may be required and are sold separately unless specifically stated.

MultiPlus-II questions

Does the MultiPlus-II include Bluetooth?

Bluetooth is not built into the standard MultiPlus-II models listed here. Monitoring and configuration options depend on the system design. A compatible GX device enables VRM monitoring, while a VE.Bus Smart Dongle can add supported Bluetooth functions.

Can it work with solar panels?

Yes. The MultiPlus-II can form part of a solar power system, but it does not replace the solar charge controller. DC-coupled solar normally requires a suitable Victron MPPT controller; AC-coupled and ESS designs require system-specific engineering.

Can I use a 48V model on a 12V battery?

No. The selected model must match the nominal battery-bank voltage. Never connect a 24V or 48V MultiPlus-II directly to a 12V battery bank.

Which size should I buy?

Start with battery voltage, then total the continuous loads and the largest starting surges. Also check battery current, charger requirements and AC input limits. If you are unsure, contact Select Caravans in Auckland with your appliance list, battery details and intended use before ordering.
