Caravan insurance considerations for New Zealand owners
Insurance should be considered before collection or delivery so the caravan, its fitted equipment and the way it will be used are accurately described to the insurer.
Information to confirm with an insurer
Policies and acceptance criteria vary. Provide accurate details about the caravan, storage location, security equipment, towing use, agreed or market value, accessories and any off-grid or electrical upgrades.
- Check cover while towing, parked at home, stored elsewhere and staying at holiday parks.
- Confirm how permanently fitted accessories, solar, batteries and personal contents are treated.
- Ask about excesses, roadside events, natural hazards, emergency accommodation and recovery costs.
